WEAPONS OF CHOICE.

A lot of thought went into the actions of Joe Hunter and his back up team.
The weapons of choice are all real world weapons and are all battle proven.
From Joe's signature SIG's to Rink's devastating Mossberg Shotgun, these are real tools of the trade.

Below is a little more information on these deadly items.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER!

"Joe Hunter's adventures are a work of fiction. It is necessary that he has access to weapons, but in the real world the author does not advocate the use of weapons under any circumstances."

JOE'S MODIFIED SIG SAUER P226.
SIG SAUER Combat Modified Pistol
Joe removes both the sights and safety functions from his SIG's due to the fact he is highly trained in 'point shooting'.
He has variously employed the SIG SAUER P226, SIG P228; all of which are excellent combat pistols.
When once asked about his love of SIG's, Joe replied, "I like the way they fit my hand!" ...enough said!

The amunition for the SIG P228 is 9x19mm Parabellum with a 13 round magazine, but it can also use P226 15 or 20 round magazines.
The P229 is nearly identical to the P228, but it has a one piece solid steel (vs. the P228's carbon stamped steel) slide and is available in 9 mm, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG loads.

Sig Sauer handguns are employed by some of the most respected Law Enforcement Agencies and Military Forces in the world.

SWAT, Special Forces, British Army, US Navy SEALS, US NCIS, Texas Rangers, Japanese Special Assault Team, British SAS, Delta Force...all employ the various SIG's on offer.
When you are in a life or death situation, you need to be able to rely on the tools of your trade...SIG SAUER delivers!

The compact design and high reliability factor make these a real favorite among the real front-liners of the world.

Mossberg 590 Assault Shotgun.
Mossberg 590 Assault Shotgun

Since the days of the wild west, the shotgun has blasted it's way into the hearts and minds (often literally) of the public as an awe insipiring weapon.
It's simplicity of design and interchangeable ammo makes it a great weapon for both urban and battlefield combat.

Mossberg claims the Model 500 is the only shotgun to pass the US Army's Mil-Spec 3443E test;
"a brutal and unforgiving torture test with 3,000 rounds of full power 12 gauge buckshot".

Rink favours several models of the Mossberg from the lighter 'self defence' versions to the full on combat models.

With the appropriate parts, the same Model 500 can be a field gun, a slug gun, defensive weapon for civilian, police, or military use, trap and skeet gun, or .50 caliber (12.7mm) rifled muzzleloader.
These hard wearing weapons are easily cared for and stand up to some punishing wear and tear...and still keep on ticking.

A unique item offered by Mossberg for the Model 500 is a line launcher kit.
It uses special blank cartridge to propel a shaft with an optional floating head and a light rope attached to it; a canister hung below the barrel to hold the line spool.
A test of the Mossberg 500 with line launcher by the BoatUS Foundation showed an average range of over 330 feet (100m) with the floating head.
Distances of 700 feet (213m) are claimed for the non-floating long distance head.

The primary difference between the Model 500 and Model 590 is in magazine tube design.
The Model 500 magazines are closed at the muzzle end, and the barrel is held in place by bolting into a threaded hole at the end of the magazine tube.
Model 590 magazines are open at the end, and the barrels fit around the magazine tube and are held on by a nut at the end.
The Model 500 magazine facilitates easy barrel changes, as the barrel bolt serves no function other than holding the barrel in place.
The Model 590 magazine facilitates easy cleaning and parts replacement, as removing the nut allows removal of the magazine spring and follower.

The riot gun versions of the Model 500 (Persuader and Mariner) are available with an 18.5" or 20" (47cm or 51cm) barrel depending on magazine capacity.
The 590 is only available with a 20" barrel and flush-fit magazine tube.

All are deadly and all turn the blood cold when you're looking down the business end of one - especially when held by someone like Jared 'Rink' Rington.

KABAR Combat Knives.
KABAR Combat Knife

On December 9, 1942, after the start of World War II, KA-BAR submitted a fighting knife to the United States Marine Corps in hopes that it would become general issue to that branch of the military.

Working in conjunction with the Marine Quartermaster Department a design was devised and soon production was under way on a new and improved fighting / utility knife for the Marines.
As the war escalated, the demand for these knives was so great that the KA-BAR factory alone could not keep up.

The KA-BAR knives became so well recognized for their quality and so abundant in number that “Kabar” became the name by which many referred to this knife pattern, regardless of whether the knife was manufactured at the KA-BAR facility.

Growing so in popularity and earning only the greatest respect, the KA-BAR was adopted by not only the Marines, but also the Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Underwater Demolition Teams.

Years after World War II, many KA-BARS were unofficially reactivated in the Korean, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom conflicts.

There are a simple and functional tool, hard wearing and battle proven.

Today, the original KA-BAR Knife remains the first choice for many Marines who choose to carry it as their personal option knife during service.

It is also a favorite of adventurers, survivalists, outdoor sportsmen and, of course, both Joe Hunter and Rink.
